Why Santorini?
I’ve travelled to plenty of places I’ve loved, but Santorini stayed with me long after I came home.
It was the sunsets. The dramatic cliffs. Watching fishing boats return at dusk. Discovering tiny cafés hidden behind whitewashed walls. Listening to locals share stories over wine and olives.
There's this fascinating contrast between the energy of the crowds and the quiet luxury tucked away behind stone walls. One minute you're weaving through bustling laneways, the next you're looking out across the caldera from a villa so beautiful it almost doesn't seem real. I certainly wasn't staying in one of them, but I couldn't stop imagining the stories they might hold.
That's where DEAD CALM began.
The island and its villages are real, and the atmosphere comes from my own time there.
The mystery, thankfully, is fiction.
